Before

Today's the day! The first day of my first ever bike packing trip, the first day of about 55 more!

I'll be starting at the beginning of Route 1 in Fort Kent, heading a few miles up to Madawaska. Then I'll weave through some mountains, hopefully getting good views, before some (mostly) flat terrain and an easy ride down to Presque Isle. Here's hoping the tough climbing doesn't kill me right off the bat!

Route 1 starts in Fort Kent and ends in the Florida Keys, so while I'm not actually following Route 1, it's a nicely poetic way to start and end my trip. I was hoping to start at the northernmost part of the continental US, but that's a bit further west in Maine and is even more difficult to get to. So passing though Madawaska will have to do.
